For those unfamiliar, Amekaji is the Japanese reinterpretation of popular 20th century American clothing styles like Ivy and workwear. Since its inception in the 1960's, it's now established as a bonafide stylistic language of its own.
As Americans themselves, Gitman was thrilled to find this Japanese-woven Oxford cloth with its refreshingly Amekaji interpretation of one of our favorite fabrics. Though its stripes reference classic American sportswear, a pre-wash treatment leaves this fabric with an Amekaji twist. Subtly crinkled, it's presented with a vintaged appearance and appears immediately broken-in. Large gauge yarns augment the weave to become chunkier and more robust throughout.
